I worked for a couple of years as a bike mechanic and have decent enough experience using a variety of industry-standard tools, so I have an idea of what to look for. I was looking for a set of reliable tools that will last years and are reflective of my budget, ie, I cant buy park tools everything. There are a few kits around at a similar price and some even cheaper. The look quality of some of the cheaper ones had me doubting the longevity of them. The chain tools look fragile, the wrenches look kind of flimsy and the BB tools don't look too promising. That said I haven't used them, but given that I want these tools to last, I was prepared to jump up from the $80 range to the $150 range. Given the amount of tools in this kit, that's not a bad price. But still, I wanted to make sure I didn't make the wrong choice. It was between this and the very well-selling 27-piece toolkit at a similar price.Anyway enough about my thought processes. I got the tools yesterday and am pleasantly surprised. The chain tool especially has exceeded my expectations, its very sturdy and well made. The other tools feel of good quality, though I haven't used them all yet. You'll be surprised by how heavy they all are. The cable cutters do feel on the flimsy side, but I tested them and they cut brake cable cleanly. All in all its a decent set. To accompany it, I ordered a freewheel remover (the one with this is for cassettes). So if you're working on an older bike, bear that in mind. There are so many obscure standards for bikes, this kit will never have everything you need, but this is more than an adequate foundation on which to build. If you're sad like me and have really been contemplating which kit to get, then I can say this is a decent option. Id steer away from the much cheaper sets, it will just make working on your bike less enjoyable than it can be. That said, if money is no issue for you, consider bumping up to park tools.
