The main criticism I see of this tool is that the teeth break. Ok take your time and slowly place the chain properly on the tool. Once its in place tighten the holding screw to keep it in place. Personally, my biggest problem with chain breakers is I am an expert at bending the pins . If you take your time and center the chain properly on this tool its difficult to bend the pin as when the chain is placed properly you cannot help but have the pin lined up perfectly. Then the holding screw prevents it from moving. Outside of that if the chain is very stiff and rusty, I would recommend a lavish dose of WD40, chain oil, degreaser anything to loosen up the stiffness to prolong the life of the pin on the chain breaker
